Project-Driven Collaboration
BIC is the only graduate program in the world that teaches branding and integrated communications in an integrated way. That means students learn foundational knowledge in a discipline agnostic way. They track out to gain specialization depth. And they apply what they've learned in interdisciplinary teams for two capstone courses: one on behalf of a non-profit organization, such as Sandy Hook Promise or the UJA; the other for a corporate client, such as Universal Music Group, Univision, or Diageo.
All courses utilize project-based learning where students apply knowledge and skills. Plus, they develop amazing presentation chops and critique skills that advance a project at any phase of development.
As part of one of the largest urban university in the world, there are many opportunities to do "across the quad" or "around the city" collaboration with students studying architecture, engineering, data science, etc. In fact, a recent BICster was part of a team that won $25,000 in seed funding for a start-up idea that originated as a quick pitch at BIC's Fall 2018 24-Hour Idea Hack and ended up in the Zahn Entrepreneurial Center's incubator.
