Suchi Sherpa ‘24 recaps PRSA ICON and the Mid-Atlantic MarCom Summit.
BIC Alum Suchi Sherpa (BIC ‘24), wrapped up October with two bicoastal conferences: PRSA ICON in Anaheim, CA, and the Mid-Atlantic MarCom Summit in Washington, D.C. The annual ICON conference boasts the single largest gathering in the PR and communications industry. The Mid-Atlantic Marcom Summit is the D.C. region’s annual gathering of Marketing, Advertising, PR, Communications, and Media professionals from all industries. Suchi is a Marketing Communications Specialist at D S Simon Media, which sponsored both events.
Of PRSA ICON 2024, Suchi said: “Some of my favorite moments included the DEI Reception, the Opening Night Reception (with a live band and food trucks!), and the opening session with the amazing, Gio Benitez. The conference was packed with engaging sessions that left me feeling motivated.”
“While the MarCom Summit was a single-day event, it was equally inspiring,” she said of the D.C. conference. “Our CEO, Doug Simon, spoke on the panel ‘Mastering Broadcast Media Relations: Navigating Television and Radio,’ where he discussed topics such as common myths in broadcast media, the latest developments in satellite media tours (SMTs), and tips for preparing spokespersons for TV interviews. This was a highlight for me, as the session drew a highly engaged audience eager to learn about broadcast media and the effectiveness of SMTs as a PR strategy, even in today’s complex media landscape. At these two conferences, I was fully immersed but couldn’t help thinking about all the amazing conferences I attended through BIC and felt grateful, realizing they’d all prepared me for this moment.”
Suchi is now in her fourth month at D S Simon Media, working with brands across healthcare, technology, travel, financial services, public affairs, consumer goods, entertainment, retail, and nonprofits.
What an incredible show for one of our most recent BIC Alumni!
Congrats Suchi!
