BIC Class of 2024 helps build the infrastructure industry (and NYC) through innovative BIG ideas.
On Thursday, December 14th, 2023, three BIC teams pitched powerful, strategic campaigns to this year’s Non-Profit capstone client, CCNY’s Charles Rangel Infrastructure Workforce Initiative (RIWI). The new RIWI program came to the BIC this Fall looking to brand and promote its efforts to address the need for underprivileged communities to secure equity in massive transportation and infrastructure projects.
Congressman Charles B. Rangel, Statesman-in-Residence at City College and the Lion of Lennox dedicated more than four decades to serving the people of New York City. “By 2050 almost 90 percent of the U.S. population—and more than two-thirds of the world’s population—will live in urban areas, yet the infrastructure serving our cities today is outdated and crumbling,” noted Rangel. “The need to restore our urban areas and economic growth starts with modernizing our infrastructure. Colleges, universities, trade schools, and other institutions of learning are critical to developing a workforce attuned to the transportation needs of the future, especially among the underserved, under-educated, and underemployed.”
With this goal in mind, three BIC teams worked to create integrated marketing communications programs that were pitched to RIWI Executive Director Angelo Lampousis and his colleagues this December. Congrats to all the students, especially Team Ignite which presented the winning campaign "BUILD. Your Community. Your City. Yourself."
Team One: The Good Stuff’s “Be the Planner”
Team Two: Ignite’s “BUILD. Your Community. Your City. Yourself.”
Team Three: Eclectick’s “No B.S. or B.A.”
