As BIC’s newest Board member, we’re especially proud to see Kirk have his City College moment
Back in the 80's, Kirk McDonald was just a few credits shy of earning his English degree from The City College of New York when he lacked the funds for his final semester. So he entered the workforce, eventually going on to lead one of the world's largest media companies as GroupM North America CEO. However, the lack of a degree gnawed at him. AND his mother: a few years ago when Kirk was named to Ebony's Power 100 list (along with Michelle Obama), she said: "That's nice. Now when are you going to finish your degree at City College?"
On June 3, 2022, his dream finally became a reality as Kirk marched alongside Interim Dean Renata Miller of the Humanities & Arts Division at CCNY to become a CCNY graduate, Class of 2022.
As BIC’s newest Board member, we’re especially proud to see Kirk have his City College moment. As he said and can testify to: “Degrees matter.” We also thank Kirk for his early efforts to make the BIC Media Impact Scholarship possible and for his continued support as BIC launches its new Media track this Fall.
