On Your Mark…Get Set…PiP!

By BIC CCNY Posted on 03/29/2023 17:07

With graduation fast approaching, the BIC Class of 2023 present their Portfolios-in-Progress to industry recruiters.

Each Spring, our annual BIC PiP recruiting event shows off the talents of our soon-to-be graduates who present their Portfolios-in-Progress to a roomful of top industry recruiters, talent seekers, and career catalysts. BICsters in the Management/Planning, Public Relations, and Creative Tracks use the feedback they receive to help elevate their portfolios for BIC's Portfolio Thesis Defense in May. And new contacts to build their ever expanding network.
This year’s PiP was held on a bright spring day on campus in Shepard Hall, where the BIC Class of 2023 were inspired by an engaged group of recruiters from a plethora of companies. The list of top talent seekers included Alex Cuevas from BBDO, Brenda Magee Tyson from 19th and Park, Dena Toms from Hunter, Donna Renella of ABW Solutions , Ericka Riggs of Omnicom, Gina Lincata from Havas Media, Hana Sato Thomas from Fig, Jason Pallanich and Mark Araya from MMC, Jocelyn Gonzalez from TBWA, Laura Mastroianni from Hatch, Michael Sandler from Publicis Media, Nathalie Cazeau from RuderFinn, Nick Molinaro from FCB, Rollex Mentore and Stacey Fenster from VMLY&R, Steve Seeman from Porter Novelli, Tara Garcia from Vice, Tristan Howard from Jack Morton and Victoria Mellusi from Golin
BIC is the only academic program with the chutzpah to give recruiters a sneak peek at portfolios prior to completion. This allows them to cultivate talent before the portfolios hit the market. During the two and a half hour event, recruiters from top agencies and companies had the opportunity to tap into the agile thinking, sharp skills, and dynamic personalities of 22 cross-disciplinary BIC students from the Class of 2023 as they went from table to table -- like speed dating, only with a professional spin. The lunchtime event was fueled by Dinosaur BBQ.
The BIC students were so impressive that some of them practically received multiple offers on the spot!
A big BIC thanks to all of the recruiters, the volunteers from the BIC Class of 2024, and the graduating BICsters for their energy, hard work, and — most of all — their curiosity. Without them, BIC’s 2023 PiP Recruiting Event could not have been a success.

Employers who didn’t attend, take note - you missed out on more than just portfolio reviews. You missed out on meeting and possibly hiring some of the top young talent in NYC! Experiencing FOMO? There’s always next year…
